Henna Hand Application
An ancient tradition dating back 9000 years, henna art or mehndi is prevalent in India, Northern Africa, Central Asia and the Middle East where it is used for weddings, celebrations and holidays. A special occasion is not needed, however. Applying mehndi/henna designs on a regular basis is a common practice in many households since the henna plant is so readily available in these regions and often growing near or around the family home. It is a great way to bond with family and friends who often invite each other over to take turns applying henna designs just for fun.

For practical skin applications, nomads in desert regions would protect themselves from the scorching sun and heat by covering themselves in henna paste taking advantage of its natural cooling and sunscreen properties.
