A special occasion is not needed, however. Applying mehndi/henna designs on a regular basis is a common practice in many households since the henna plant is so readily available in these regions and often growing near or around the family home. It is a great way to bond with family and friends who often invite each other over to take turns applying henna designs just for fun.
